New York, NY (PRWEB) May 22, 2007

With the wealth of fresh local fruits and vegetables available, summer is the ideal time to work on developing more healthy eating habits. To help inspire guests to get their summer off to a healthy start, Mandarin Oriental, New York has partnered with nutritionist, Jill Pettijohn, to create a "Healthy Cleansing" package for weekends in June, July and August.

"Summer is the perfect time to cleanse the body of toxins and imbalances," states Mandarin Oriental, New York's Spa Director, Denise Vitiello. "We chose Jill Pettijohn's cleanse because of its nutritionally sound approach. We also like the fact that Jill is very focused on teaching people how to end a cleanse safely and offering guidance on how to continue with eating habits for long lasting benefits."

Jill Pettijohn, a registered nurse, chef and nutritionist, has worked with celebrities including Donna Karan and Nicole Kidman over the course of her career. "I use food more as medicine. My nutritional cleanse is good for the average person who has never fasted before and is designed for those who want to improve their overall health by clearing the body of toxic residue, resting the digestive tract and boosting the immune system."

Pettijohn's cleansing program consists of six nutritious "life food" juices per day made up of whole, unprocessed organic ingredients such as spinach, squash, beets, lemons, berries, avocado and nut milks. "Life food hasn't been heated above 118 degrees so the repairing and rejuvenating enzymes in these foods are still active," Pettijohn notes. "These enzymes help break down food so the body can get the full benefit of the vitamins and minerals being digested. The fruit-based juices are used as cleansers that clean and detox the system, while the ingredients in the vegetable juices and soups have a balancing and rejuvenating effect on different organs."

The "Cleansing Package" is for two people and includes luxurious Friday and Saturday accommodations at Mandarin Oriental, New York, Jill Pettijohn's fresh juices, daily cleansing instructions for Saturday through Sunday, and one signature Time Ritual spa treatment per person tailored to ease the body through the detox and cleansing process.

Rates fore the "Cleansing Weekend" package start from $3,175 for a Hudson River View Room to $6,250 for a Central Park View Suite and are subject to city/state tax plus nightly occupancy tax. Available June through August, this package subject to spa and hotel availability and is not combinable with other offers. Additional nights of accommodation may be booked at prevailing rates pending availability. Additional cleansing days can be arranged beyond the hotel stay for those living in New York City at an incremental cost. Reservations must be made a minimum of two weeks prior to arrival and a minimum 2-night stay is required. For reservations call 212-805-8800 or toll free direct at 866-801-8880.
