Comfort is key and if guests are uncomfortable they’ll be unhappy. It won't matter how great everything else is, the only thing they will remember is how hot the wedding was.

It’s officially the summer and the most popular wedding season. Couples love the summer season for the warm weather and plentiful sunshine. Many summer weddings end up happening outdoors to take advantage of the weather, but there are some considerations to keep in mind when planning an outdoor summer wedding. Mango Muse Events, top destination wedding planner shares 4 important tips to keep an outdoor summer wedding from overheating.
1. Create some shade. When the temperature rises, it can get uncomfortable for guests to be sitting out in the sun especially for long periods of time like the ceremony. Comfort is key and if guests are uncomfortable they’ll be unhappy. It won't matter how great everything else is, the only thing they will remember is how hot the wedding was. Take care of guests and provide umbrellas or tents for shade. Hand out individual parasols or hand fans to help keep the heat at bay. Even thinking about their eyes and handing out sunglasses is a nice gesture that let's them know they are important.
2. Keep it cool. Nothing feels better on a hot day then a cool drink. Make it interesting with signature iced cocktails that are personal favorites of the couple. Have some refreshing non-alcoholic drinks and flavored waters available as well. They will keep guests feeling cool, happy and hydrated and will also help deter any heat stroke or dizziness especially for the older guests.
3. Keep it light. One of the biggest mistakes couples make is having a meal that doesn’t fit the season. Outdoor summer wedding meals need to be light so as to not weigh guests down or add to the heat of the outdoors. Work with the caterer to incorporate both products that are in season and preparations that keep the meal both light and satisfying.
4. Don’t let it sweat. After all the hard work put into a beautiful cake, don’t let it melt in the heat. Make sure to discuss with the baker about the weather conditions for the area and pick an icing that will withstand not only the heat, but also the humidity or dryness. Once the cake has been delivered, keep it in a refrigerator or cooler until the last possible moment and then when it is time to display it, make sure it’s in a shaded area.
