TECT Power, a manufacturer of a variety of engine-ready components for an impressive array of aerospace and industrial gas turbine customers, is now saving more than 69% per year in total lighting costs after a SmartWatt Energy, Inc. lighting retrofit at their Utica, NY, manufacturing plant. SmartWatt conducted a construction-grade energy audit of the plant, shops and offices, then designed a value-engineered plan to replace TECT Power’s existing lighting system with an energy-efficient fluorescent lighting system. The lighting retrofit project will pay for itself in 15 months.
“This project was completed to TECT’s complete satisfaction. SmartWatt provided excellent communication and cooperation during the entire project,” said Michael Finlay, Plant Maintenance Manager for TECT Power’s Utica Plant. “We are very pleased with the improved appearance of our plant and the savings realized from this lighting improvement project.”
The new energy-efficient lighting, installed by SmartWatt, will save $118,069 and 1,653,601 kWh of electricity per year. The project came with a utility incentive from National Grid’s Large Business Energy Reduction Program of $147,720, which SmartWatt facilitated as part of their turnkey service. This energy saving project has removed pollutants from the air and will have the same effect on the environment as planting 363 acres of trees.
