Choosing the best child-centric products doesn’t have to be rocket science.
Fort Lee, New Jersey (PRWEB) June 07, 2013
The RealMomsRealReviews.com website offers parents reviews on child-centric products and practices. The website's newest batch of "mom reviews" for May 2013 focus on innovative tools for feeding infants and toddlers.
The moms of RealMomsRealReviews.com review a variety of products, from Sippy cups to high chairs, offering sometimes colorful and always valuable feedback on each product’s performance, construction, safety features (or lack thereof) and materials.
Included in this latest batch of reviews is the popular OXO Tot 11 oz. Sippy cup, designed to help baby transition from bottle to cup. The BPA, phthalate and PVC-free cup transforms as the child grows and develops. Their leak-proof valve prevents spills, which makes them a favorite with parents. The reviewing mom on RealMomsRealReviews.com says the OXO Sippy cups held up well for about three months before their leak-proof lids began to seep, but not enough to force her to toss the pricey ($6 to $10) Sippy cup right away.
“After six-plus-months of daily use, these are actually some of the better cups I’ve had,” she says. “However the fact that the first leaks were caused by the dishwasher makes me hesitant to buy more since that would make long-term use virtually impossible."
“If you have the same standards for Sippy cups as I do, then go right ahead and buy these, but if not you should probably try and find something more reliable.”
Reviewing mom number two admits from the start that she tends to be overly-picky when it comes to selecting products for her young son. However, she is smitten with the Beaba First Stage spoons, which come in a variety of colors and have a surface texture that offers the right amount of give for teething little ones.
“These Beaba First Stage Spoons are one of the few feeding-related purchases I’ve made that I’m still very satisfied with,” she says. “My only complaint is they can collect stains pretty easily if you don’t rinse them off immediately after using them, but I deal with this by using one closest in color to the food he's eating."
At $5 each, some parents may not want to splurge on something like baby spoons, but the reviewing mom says their functionality makes the price well worth it.
“I have used a set of these Beaba spoons for three years now, and with the exception of the food stains, there’s virtually no difference in quality between now and the day I bought them."
Reviewing mom number three shared her experience with the Posh Pod Safety 1st high chair. Although there are some good options to choose from, this high chair stuck out from the rest; priced at a reasonable $70, the Posh Pod model has clean, basic lines and simple functionality. But the pleasures of its simple design wore thin quickly, as the reviewing mom had not taken into account the fact that its simplicity could be a bad thing.
“The chair’s height isn’t adjustable. and even though the legs can be removed, the plastic seat takes up more space than it needs to when I want to get it out of the way,” she says. “Although it does beat many similar chairs in price, I feel as if the designers sacrificed some practical features just to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
“I haven’t had any major issues with it, but when it comes time to replace this one I’m definitely going to back to the plain, cheap chairs I’m used to; I wouldn’t recommend this because the price is too high for something that does so little.”
Safe, functional child care products are important to every parent, and choosing the best products doesn’t have to be rocket science, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website.
