When trying to find a Mariachi band to serenade her soon-to-be-wife the days before their wedding, Atlanta based Web professional Andres Garcia realized how difficult it was to find information about Mariachi bands in America. "It was really sad to see how Mariachi bands are underrepresented on the web; they are an important aspect of the Hispanic culture but yet, they don't have the web presence they deserve", Mr. Garcia said.
Decided to change this situation and as a way giving back to the Hispanic community he created a space for Mariachis on the web where fans of the Mariachi tradition could reach the best Mariachi bands in their area and hire them for a 'serenata' Mariachi.
He is also writing a blog called The Mariachi's Hat, in which he gives Mariachi bands tidbits of advice to help them promote their bands and get more customers. "I am building the most up-to-date Online Mariachi Directory, and I want to profile every single Mariachi band in America, all this at no cost to the Mariachis. Mariachi bands are keeping the Mariachi culture alive in America and they deserve to be recognized for their cultural contribution", Mr. Garcia added.
With the recent success of soap operas like La Hija Del Mariachi, and the everlasting appeal of bands like Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán or singers like Vicente Fernández, Garcia expects that the website will grow into greater success.
Mariachi Bands that want to be profiled on SerenataMariachi.com can simply submit their information online on our home page and they will get free exposure on the Web. Additionally, we have partnered with Altoviento Web Design, an Atlanta based web design company to offer additional services to the Mariachi bands like creating their own web sites or enhancing their existing ones.
