The new site, targeted primarily at consumers, and also serving the needs of industry retail and foodservice professionals, provides a wide array of informative and useful information about Fresh California Avocados in a clean new layout.

California is the leading producer of domestic avocados and home to about 90% of the nation’s crop. Therefore, one of the primary goals of the new site was to support California avocado growers by effectively communicating the benefits of Fresh California Avocados to its audiences. With http://www.avocado.org, Interactivate designed a site that maximizes lifestyle imagery with minimal text, giving visitors quick and easy access to Fresh California Avocado recipes, nutritional information, handling and ripening tips, fun facts and much more.   • A revolving ticker tape that highlights popular sections including a chef’s spotlight, kids only section, guacamole recipes and an enhanced Spanish language section.
  • A robust avocado recipe search engine that allows consumers to search, save, rate and print their favorite recipes.
  • Award winning chefs sharing their favorite California avocado inspired recipes.

From a functional standpoint, the California Avocado Commission can also easily update the site as seasonal promotions are introduced and swap out background colors to reflect the changing seasons.

The site launch was supported by a pay-per-click program and email campaign created by Interactivate, and also included a promotional program with allrecipes.com and epicurious.com.

Build a Better Burger Site Goes Live

Interactivate also recently worked with the California Avocado Commission to design and build its Build a Better Burger® microsite, http://www.avocado.org/bbb. For the third consecutive year, the California Avocado Commission is an official sponsor of Sutter Home Winery’s Build a Better Burger Recipe contest. Consumers submitting original hamburger recipes have a chance to win up to $50,000 and the California Avocado Commission is encouraging home cooks to bring the delicious taste of fresh California avocados to their grills and tables this summer.

In addition to providing important information about the recipe contest, the Commission’s Build a Better Burger microsite provides consumers with simple and delicious summer barbeque recipe ideas highlighting fresh California avocados. Also featured on the easy-to-navigate microsite are helpful grilling tips, suggested burger/wine pairings and entertaining ideas – including party themes, hosting tips and summer backyard game ideas.
