National Farmers Market Week is August 3rd though August 9th as proclaimed by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. This week provides a special opportunity for farmers markets like Market on Central in Fort Dodge, IA to promote fresh produce vendors and Iowa made products.
"Farmers markets have increasingly become an important part of providing a variety of fresh, affordable, convenient and healthful products sold directly from the farm." according to Cheryl O'Hern, Market Manager. "National Farmers Market Week is an excellent way to promote awareness of the contributions our area farmers make in the lives of consumers."
Located in Historic Downtown Fort Dodge, Market on Central has around 50 vendors at any given market selling a variety of Iowa made products. Everything from fresh produce picked that morning, honey, cheese, jams and jellies, wine, breads and baked goods, cheesecake, popcorn, maple syrup, a variety of homemade items along with food vendors can be found.
