Today on the Emmy-winning daytime series, "The Martha Stewart Show," (check local listings) Martha Stewart spoke about the growing popularity of sewing with a focus on the participation of Martha's employees in sewing classes sponsored by SVP Worldwide.

Sewers of all skill levels love coming into the store to learn in a non-threatening environment everything from how to wind a bobbin, make a gift for a friend or embroider a personalized monogram

"A couple of times a month we set up sewing machines in the clerestory of our office and Becky Hanson, who is one of the educators for our favorite sewing machine company, SVP Worldwide, comes and gives a lesson," said Martha Stewart. "Many people have joined the club and made really beautiful projects. What's really nice is that they actually do a whole project from start to finish. So, not only are they learning a new skill, they wind up with something really great to take home and show off!"

During the show, Martha created an apron using the HUSQVARNA VIKING(R) DESIGNER(TM) SE Limited Edition sewing and embroidery machine. The apron was inspired by one made by MSLO employees at their first sewing lesson using SVP Worldwide sewing machines. The instructions for this perfect gift for family members and special hostesses are now available at marthastewart.com/sewing.

The demand for sewing classes continues at MSLO. For the past three months, classes have been filled with employees who reach across all of MSLO's business segments.

"Sewing is a wonderful creative outlet that is spreading like wild fire around the world, especially with the fashion-conscious teenagers and Generation Xers," said Don Fletcher, CEO of SVP Worldwide. "The availability of sewing classes, lounges and clubs is making sewing accessible and easy to learn. Beginning sewers are learning how to personalize their clothing, make beautiful home decor items and create their own fashions with personal step by step instructions using SINGER(R), HUSQVARNA VIKING(R) and PFAFF(R) sewing machines."

Authorized SINGER, HUSQVARNA VIKING and PFAFF dealers offer complimentary personal sewing instruction and training with purchase of a sewing machine. "Sewers of all skill levels love coming into the store to learn in a non-threatening environment everything from how to wind a bobbin, make a gift for a friend or embroider a personalized monogram," said Carol Vealey-Ellis, owner of A Stitch Connection, Inc., the authorized SINGER and HUSQVARNA VIKING dealer located in Port Charlotte, Fort Myers and Naples, Florida. "Nearly every beginning sewer is surprised at how simple sewing has become with the new high-tech but easy to use sewing machines."
