St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) July 04, 2012
For the 94th summer of musical performances, The Muny teamed up with Mary Engelbreit to create the 2012 Muny program cover. The artwork for the cover will be utilized throughout the entire 2012 summer season, with changes to the interior content pertaining to each week’s performance.
"I'm so honored that Mary created this marvelous illustration for our audiences," said Muny Executive Producer, Mike Isaacson. "Not only do I respect and enjoy her work, this is another example of The Muny serving as a showcase for St. Louis artists."
Engelbreit, a native to St. Louis, is an internationally recognized illustrator and graphic artist whose artwork has touched generations with heartwarming characters, comforting fabric patterns, and eye-catching illustrations. With many wonderful memories of The Muny herself, Engelbreit gladly accepted the honor of creating the cover piece that some many folks will enjoy as part of their overall experience at America’s oldest outdoor theater. Her childhood memories sparked the inspiration for this piece.
“I tried to capture the magic I felt as a child, and the satisfaction I later felt as a parent bringing my kids here, continuing a great St. Louis summertime tradition,” said Mary Engelbreit.
The Muny offers another summer of fantastic performances for all ages under the stars in St. Louis and has been doing so since 1919. Receipt of The Muny program booklet upon entrance begins the evening’s experience for upcoming magic on stage.
“I hope the audience enjoys it (cover) as much as I enjoyed drawing it!” said Engelbreit.
