Illinois Hospice to Offer Massage Therapy Services

Blessing Hospice and Palliative Care of Central Illinois, recently announced plans to start offering massage therapy to its end-of-life patients. As part of its health care services, Blessing Hospice and Palliative Care has begun to offer massage therapy to its patients. Blessing Hospice and Palliative Care offers locations in Quincy, Green County, Hancock County and Pike County, Illinois. The facility first opened in 1982 and has been providing end-of-life health care services for nearly three decades. Boasting a team of experienced doctors, nurses, volunteers, social workers and clergymen, Blessing Hospice can provide for all of a terminally ill patient’s physical and emotional needs.

Massage therapy incorporates pressure and manipulation of muscle and tissue to provide a variety of health benefits. It can offer stress relief, help provide relaxation or even heal certain conditions and ailments. In some cases, massage can even improve functioning of a muscle or area. Massage is most commonly applied with the hands, but the feet, elbows, knees and more can also be used when providing massage. It is typically targeted at various muscles, joints, tendons or ligaments. In most states, a license is required to practice massage.
