Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is gearing up for one hot summer – for their best annual series to date, the resort has arranged a blistering month-long lineup of fantastic live music with a visit from California’s Citrus College Performing Arts – June 30 – July 23, 2011. Noteworthy musical highlights also include concerts by the college’s highly-regarded performing groups – Blue Note Orchestra and Nightshift – as well as a show-stopping performance of “The Great American Songbook” with Dale Kristien, star of “Phantom of the Opera,” on July 9.

A Jazzy Summer at the Maui Resort Kicking off Thursday, June 30, resort guests and local Hawaii residents can enjoy countless live performances scattered around Hyatt Regency Maui’s stunning grounds.

Offered numerous times daily, every day through the July 23, Citrus College’s artists will present a variety of shows – from hip, high octane poolside entertainment at Umalu, to easy evening jazz at Japengo, to jazzy, swingy, swanky parties in the Ballroom. Special events for the Fourth of July weekend include a Red, White & Blue Party on July 2, a late-night performance by the Blue Note Orchestra on July 3, and 4th of July with Nightshift at Umalu, the Maui resort’s restaurant.

A Special Night of Talent at the Maui, Hawaii Resort

For the headline showstopper event on July 9 in the Napili Gardens, Hyatt Regency Maui presents “The Great American Songbook” starring the talented Dale Kristien accompanied by The Blue Note Orchestra. Previously a cast member of “Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway, Kristien’s illustrious career includes over 1,700 lead performances opposite Michael Crawford in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera.” For this dazzling concert, Kristien will be accompanied by the nearly 30-piece live orchestra for classic songs from Broadway shows and Hollywood musicals by top composers including Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, and more artists. Beginning at 7 p.m., the 70-minute spectacular event will feature classic American music paired with Hyatt Regency Maui’s incredible panoramic oceanfront views. Valet parking available; specialty drinks offered at a cash bar.

All concerts, including the event on July 9, are complimentary and open to the public.
