Do employees participate in training (in-house class; public seminar; eLearning, or webinar) and after completing the training, nothing changes...there is no performance improvement; no increased productivity; no increase in employee engagement? Why does this occur? Because most training is treated as a "to-do" task or something to be checked off a list.
What's the solution? Make training an integral component of an overall learning and development process. Create an individual Development Plan (IDP) with the employee's manager. Provide reinforcement, require self-assessment/reflection, and provide Level 2 Measurement, followed by Level 3 Measurement. There is a process to help ensure this happens.
