Instead of having to buy and integrate an expensive video stabilizing box-solution, and worry about the physical connection, the Leonardo™ software library can be integrated directly with existing processing solutions, saving a great deal.

Human Monitoring offers its patented ultra-fast and field proven Leonardo™ video stabilizer for the ARM® Cortex™-A series processors. The solution enables the integration of the real-time digital video stabilizer with most of the existing media and application processors in the market, since the ARM® Cortex™-A series core is present in them. Suitable processing platforms are offered by Texas Instruments, Broadcom, Freescale, Qualcomm and others. The library is suitable for any processor containing an ARM® Cortex™-A series core. The Leonardo™ stabilizer library is also available for TI’s Davinci Media Processors as well as for x86 platforms as a DirectShow filter under Windows.

Intelligent algorithms are being deployed to process the surge in video information and accommodate growing needs, from security systems to traffic control, from military applications to recreational activities. However, these systems are inhibited, or rendered useless, by unwanted camera instability. Large portions of statically mounted cameras suffer from high frequency shaking to low frequency swaying caused by passing vehicles and wind. Handheld and vehicle mounted cameras are inherently shaky, posing a real challenge due to the wide range of their abrupt motion amplitude.

HM’s Leonardo™ stabilizer effectively solves these problems by canceling such unwanted motion. Leonardo corrects video instability and swaying covering an extreme range of motion and frequencies from sub 0.1Hz to over 60Hz. Leonardo stabilizes progressive and interlaced video streams from CIF to full HD resolution, covering a search range of up to 20% frame to frame. It can be configured for low latency operation, keeping high-end performance at sub 50mS for moving cameras, and outstanding sub 10ms for static cameras.
