We’ve been waiting for a fun-to-drive and fun-to-own car that brings an all new level of refinement to the subcompact market--one that’s packed with style and substance--and is meant to be consumed by Generation Y.

The sporty, fuel-efficient and fun to drive Mazda2 has won nearly 50 awards worldwide since its international debut in 2007, and with the 2011 model, it has finally arrived in the US!
The Sport models have all-new 15-inch wheels and black cloth interiors. But what sets this model apart from the competition is what comes standard: power windows, mirrors and door locks, air conditioning, 4-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 player compatibility, Auxiliary-audio input jack, remote keyless entry, rear wiper/washer, 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, and tons of legroom. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Mazda2 Sport starts at just $13,980, which sets this sporty hatchback directly in competition against the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, and the Nissan Versa.
The Mazda2 Touring models feature 15-inch alloy wheels, an exhaust finisher, fog lights, a rear spoiler and leather-wrapped steering wheel, red piping accents on the upgraded cloth interior, trip computer, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, and a booming 6-speaker stereo system. The Touring model has a manufacturer suggested retail price starting at $15,435.
Both models of this lively hatchback have standard Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control Systems, 6 airbags (driver and passenger front, front seat-mounted side-impact, front and rear side-impact air curtains), 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and EPAS Power steering.
The 2011 Mazda2 was placed on a strict diet before arriving to the US in order to reduce its weight to enhance drivability while still maintaining fuel efficiency. The reviews of the Mazda2 emphasize how fun this sporty car is to drive with 100 horsepower and 98 lbs-ft of torque. “Around a few twisty portions of the drive route, the 2 showed great composure… and the suspension soaked up road imperfections beautifully and easily eclipses competitors from Honda, Toyota and Nissan.” says a June 2010 review from AutoWeek.
The eco-friendly, fuel-efficient Mazda2 offers a standard Manual transmission and achieves EPA-estimated 29 mpg in the city, and 35 mpg on the highway, while the available 4-speed automatic Mazda2 achieves EPA-estimated 27 city, and 33 mpg on the highway.
The Mazda2 is also a very versatile hatchback. With 60/40 split back rear seats and a deep cargo floor, the Mazda2 is ready to go when you are in a vehicle that adds ‘genuinely attractive’ to the list of newly discovered small-car attributes.
