Dan McNeill Enrolls CEO in Using 'Enrollment' as an Effective Leadership Skill

Dan McNeill, CEO and founder of The McNeill Group, Inc., an executive coaching and leadership development firm, recently partnered with the CEO of a major Wall Street investment firm to discuss motivation for his leadership team.

Dan coached the CEO in the value of 'enrollment' as a leadership skill. Dan asserted that leaders benefit from knowing the basic distinction between 'enrolling' a person or a team versus 'asking', 'telling' or 'insisting' that they reach a certain goal. McNeill used his definition of enrollment as "showing the other person(s) how what the leader has to offer is so much in fulfillment of what they are committed to that they willingly choose it as their own course of action." McNeill adds that, "A leader needs to be clear about what the other party's commitment is, and that they may even need to first enroll them into a new commitment."

McNeill also said that "with the exception of trust building, enrollment is the most important skill a leader can have."
