Medibank Private and Terry White Chemists to Form Partnership

Medibank Private is working with Terry White Chemists to provide better health outcomes for all Australians.

(PRWEB) November 12, 2009 -- Australia’s largest provider of health insurance and health solutions and Australia’s leading pharmacy group are developing a strategic alliance that will give consumers easy access to a range of new services designed to optimise their health.

“Medibank believes all Australians have the right to good health and by partnering with Terry White Chemists we can help meet the community’s growing demand for health care advice and services, which is being driven by our ageing population and the rise in chronic disease,” Medibank Managing Director George Savvides said.

“Pharmacists play a vital role in providing health advice to the wider community especially concerning medications linked to chronic disease, so by coming together we can provide Australians with a trusted point of healthcare co-ordination in what is becoming an increasingly complex health system.”

“We are very excited by the opportunity that working with Medibank offers,” Anthony White, Terry White Chemists CEO, said. “We share a common vision for the growing role our pharmacies will play in the health system and are committed to helping our customers proactively improve their health and general wellness. We look forward to providing many more healthcare options and solutions for our customers.”

“At the recent 2009 Terry White Chemists conference, there was tremendous support for working with Medibank – there are more than 500 qualified pharmacists working in the Terry White Chemists pharmacies – they all are especially dedicated to improving healthcare standards in their local communities”, White said.

As a first step Medibank will begin delivering health checks in 16 Terry White Chemists pharmacies in Queensland and New South Wales in November.

Medibank Private Health Insurance now employs 1000 health professionals. The new health checks will be developed and delivered by trained healthcare professionals to give customers a snapshot of their key health indicators such as blood pressure readings, cholesterol levels and body mass index. In future, the programs and services that Medibank and Terry White Chemists will jointly look at developing could include:

  • Screening services to assess health risks and conditions
  • Wellness programs for those looking to optimise their health
  • Support programs for those managing chronic conditions.

Joint marketing initiatives will also be developed to promote the new in store health services not only to Medibank’s large customer base but to all health consumers.
