The Mark Shaw Agency, an Elmore County-based insurance and financial planning firm that provides coverage to businesses and families throughout central Alabama, is announcing a cooperative charity initiative with Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders of Alabama Inc. aimed at advocating and raising awareness of bleeding disorders in the local community.

In 2005, Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders of Alabama, Inc. became the first organization in Alabama to represent the thousands of people across the state living with bleeding disorders. Today, HBDA has members across the state, including both health professionals and home care providers. Through advocacy and community education, HBDA works to facilitate programs and build a network of peer support for affected Alabama residents.

“Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders of Alabama has done much to raise awareness of the seriousness of these illnesses, and we’re going to do everything we can to support their continued efforts,” says Mark Shaw, founder and director of the Mark Shaw Agency.

Shaw and his team are reaching out across the state to community leaders, families, associates, and friends in an effort to gather support for HBDA and raise awareness of the issue. The Mark Shaw Agency also plans to publish a feature article discussing the HBDA charity drive in the next edition of “Our Hometown,” a monthly webzine hosted by the firm: http://www.markshawagency.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_39.

Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders of Alabama, Inc. is only the latest charitable organization supported by the Mark Shaw Agency. As part of an ongoing community improvement campaign called “Agents of Change,” Shaw and his team plan to find and work with a new Alabama charity every other month.
