DXA, a low-dose (1/10th of traditional x-ray) imaging modality that measures bone mineral density and body mass composition, is increasingly utilized in clinical trials to assess the safety and effectiveness of drugs under development for indications such as osteoporosis, HIV, obesity, growth hormone deficiency, endometriosis, fibroids and Gaucher's disease.
