As the trend toward connected operating rooms becomes widespread, we believe that Wake Forest Baptist will represent a new benchmark
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) March 17, 2009
Rivulet Communications, the leading provider of superior-quality real-time HD and SD medical video on and off the hospital data networks, today announced they were awarded a project to provide interactive high-quality medical video to 28 new operating rooms at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (WFUBMC). Wake Forest Baptist, which recently was named one of America's "Most Wired" hospitals, expects to complete the project in the first quarter of 2009.
Rivulet's video solution will help Wake Forest Baptist realize its vision of providing the highest quality patient care and medical education. This step is a milestone toward delivering real-time live interaction between surgical suites and educational facilities.
"Wake Forest is committed to providing the best possible surgical training, research and patient care, and to creating synergies among these goals," said Dr. Carl Westcott, associate professor of surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and director of Minimally Invasive Surgery Services, Wake Forest Baptist. "Our patients, staff, researchers and students all will benefit from the high-quality video collaboration that Rivulet makes possible."
"As the trend toward connected operating rooms becomes widespread, we believe that Wake Forest Baptist will represent a new benchmark," said Ed Kennedy, Rivulet president and CEO. "We're thrilled that Rivulet's ability to deliver flawless surgical video over their existing data network will help Wake Forest Baptist attain its goals for education and patient care."
The medical video system is currently being installed at Wake Forest Baptist. Rivulet's patented DST technology has the unique ability to ensure the delivery of flawless video quality over ordinary hospital data networks, anywhere in the network.
Rivulet will be demonstrating the solutions being implemented at WFUBMC at the AORN 56th Annual Congress, Booth #2428, March 14 - 19, 2009, McCormick Place West Building, Chicago, Illinois.
