For whatever reason a person may seek cosmetic surgery, he or she should expect a reasonable level of care before, during and after the procedure.
New York, New York (PRWEB) January 09, 2012
A Staten Island plastic surgeon has been suspended after being sued for medical malpractice in New York more than 40 times in three decades, reported the New York Post (12/25/2011).
According to the tabloid, Robert Cattani performed an eyelid surgery that blinded a woman in one eye in 2005, and performed a tummy tuck on another patient that resulted in dangerous blood loss. Another patient suffered a perforated bowel during a liposuction in 2007. A 2009 lower face and neck lift left a patient with thick scars and chronic pain.
“Well-done cosmetic surgery can enhance a person’s appearance and self-esteem. Cosmetic surgery gone wrong can cause irreparable damage, adverse long-term side effects, and, in some cases, death,” said New York medical malpractice lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York’s medical malpractice law firms.
Earlier this month, the New York State Department of Health revoked Cattani’s license, calling him "an imminent danger to the health of the people of the state," reported the New York Post.
“For whatever reason a person may seek cosmetic surgery, he or she should expect a reasonable level of care before, during and after the procedure,” said Perecman, a medical malpractice lawyer in New York for over 30 years.
