In the short-term, there could be some instability, but this tax and other things happening in the industry are not going to impact America’'s desire to consume medical devices and pharmaceutical products.

Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) January 30, 2013

The healthcare industry continues to grow, adding 45,000 jobs last December, but the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors are facing challenges - namely increasing taxes and fees - that industry representatives say are sure to slow growth. The recently implemented medical device tax, increased user fees, and pricing pressures are certainly weighing on the industry, but a new report from MedReps.com suggests the healthcare sales job market has not seen strong repercussions.

After a small dip in the fourth quarter, healthcare sales job counts on five industry job sites have taken a positive turn. The Quarterly Healthcare Sales Jobs Report from MedReps has monitored medical device, pharmaceutical and biotech sales job counts since March of 2012, seeing general fluctuations throughout the year. The report suggests the slight decline in December was likely the result of a seasonal slowdown coupled with uncertainties surrounding the medical device tax and the fiscal cliff. Since January 1st, however, job counts have increased in every healthcare sales sector. Does this suggest the worst is already over?

The report doesn'’t attempt to predict what the immediate future of the healthcare sales job market may be. Certainly the current numbers are tracking positively, and hopefully that trend will continue but it’s impossible to know for sure. MedReps quotes healthcare staffing expert, Shane Jackson, saying "“In the short-term, there could be some instability, but this tax and other things happening in the industry are not going to impact America’s desire to consume medical devices and pharmaceutical products. So ultimately, I think medical companies are going to find a way to be profitable and continue to grow.”"
