Stow, Ohio (PRWEB) September 20, 2011
The leader in residential neuro-rehabilitation, Mentis Neuro Rehabilitation (Mentis), is preparing to open a new facility in Stow, Ohio. The Mentis Ohio location is slated to open in late October and will provide the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area with post acute neuro-rehabilitation for patients that have acquired brain injuries or who are challenged by neurological conditions that restrict mobility, social interaction, communication, and employability.
The Stow facility marks Mentis’ third location and their first venture outside of Texas. The company currently operates two healthcare facilities in Houston and El Paso and serves a large number of injured war veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Mentis’ expansion process began at the end of 2010 when they conducted due diligence in several US markets to locate the most underserved areas. Curiosity led Mentis CEO Jerome Mee, who was raised in nearby Cuyahoga Falls, to investigate the Akron/Cleveland/Canton market.
“We looked at many market factors such as population, trauma and rehabilitation hospitals, and local competition,” said Vice President of Development, Pat O’Reilly. “We discovered that many of the demographic factors that are favorable for a Mentis facility were present in the Cleveland/Akron area. After meeting with individuals in the healthcare community, we received overwhelming feedback in favor of Mentis building a facility in Stow.”
Mentis’ full suite of neurological recovery and mental services will allow individuals with acquired brain injuries to receive local post-acute rehabilitation, which permits them to remain closer to their support system and local hospitals. “Stow is perfectly situated near the larger medical communities in Cleveland, Akron and Canton,” said Mee. “It is an underserved area and we now look forward to further mature our services and provide the best care that we can for this population.”
In addition to providing specialized treatment programs, the new facility will bring employment opportunities to the area. Mentis has already begun the staffing process to fill 25-30 healthcare positions including: physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and state tested nursing assistants.
