New Center Will Provide Local, Specialized Care for Brain Injury Patients

Residential neuro-rehabilitation leader, Mentis Neuro Rehabilitation (Mentis), will celebrate their expansion into the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area with an open house event at their new Stow location. The event will showcase Mentis’ full suite of neurological recovery and brain injury rehabilitation services and will give the public a chance to tour the facility and meet with staff members.

Mentis will open its doors on Thursday, October 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The open house will provide area hospitals, local businesses, local brain injury organizations, and individuals with information about the brain injury population and the latest rehabilitation programs. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served, along with staff-led tours. A ribbon-cutting ceremony presented by Stow Mayor, Karen Fritschel, is also scheduled to take place at the event.

Since 2006, Mentis has provided post acute neuro-rehabilitation for patients that have acquired brain injuries or who are challenged by neurological conditions that restrict mobility, social interaction, communication, and employment. Now Mentis’ Ohio center will provide local post-acute rehabilitation to Stow residents and the surrounding areas, something that wasn’t available until now. Members of the healthcare community are excited to have this level of specialized care available locally, which permits patients to remain closer to their support systems and local hospitals.

The Stow facility marks Mentis’ third location and their first venture outside of Texas. Mentis’ expansion process began at the end of 2010 when CEO Jerome Mee, a Cuyahoga Falls native, investigated the need for a Mentis facility in Ohio. Since then, preparations were made to reconstruct and customize the building to meet the needs of neuro-rehabilitation patients. Some of the new facility’s features include: individual private suites, expanded gym, WI-FI, fully equipped therapy, on-site therapy team, and 24-hour nursing care.

“It’s a dream come true to offer local post-acute rehabilitation to this unique population and to help our patients reacclimate to their homes and communities. The level of care we’ll provide will not only improve the quality of life for our patients, but also their families,” said Mee. “Stow marks our first location outside of Texas and we are confident this will help us improve as we start to enter new markets.”

Mentis will work closely with local hospitals in Cleveland, Akron, and Canton, as well as any hospitals that have an interest in brain injuries. Mentis will start treating patients as early as Monday, October 31st.

Mentis Neuro is located at 3625 Marsh Road in Stow, OH.
