Menuism.com, the Web’s largest aggregator of restaurant menus, has pledged to donate $1 to the Greater Chicago Food Depository for each new Facebook fan earned before April 25th. This latest charitable giving campaign follows a successful campaign with the San Francisco Food Bank in which Menuism.com donated the equivalent of 15,000 meals.

Menuism + Greater Chicago Food Depository = Feeding Hunger

Menuism is committed to making food more accessible to everyone. No one should go hungry in a world of abundance, especially children and seniors.

Menuism.com, the Web’s largest aggregator of restaurant menus, announced the launch of its latest Feeding Hunger campaign in a joint effort with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Earlier this year, the menu giant donated the equivalent of 15,000 meals to the San Francisco Food Bank in a similar and extremely successful partnership.

“Menuism is committed to making food more accessible to everyone. No one should go hungry in a world of abundance, especially children and seniors,” said Menuism co-founder Justin Chen. “We’re proud to partner with the Greater Chicago Food Depository because of their dedication to these underserved populations and are excited to support their goal of ending hunger in Cook County. With Feeding Hunger: Chicago, we hope to replicate the recent success we had in San Francisco.”

The Food Depository serves approximately 678,000 people in Cook County every year, distributing donated and purchased food through a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. Nearly 40% of those served are children under 18, and 9% are younger than 5. For every new Facebook fan Menuism earns between today and April 25th, the social network for foodies will donate $1 to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

“Last year, the Food Depository distributed 66 million pounds of food—the equivalent of 135,000 meals every day. Their reach is astounding. We are particularly pleased to support a food bank that procures and distributes healthy foods like fresh produce and staples including pasta, peanut butter, rice and beans,” added co-founder John Li.

Leveraging the power of social media, Menuism hopes to raise money in support of the Greater Chicago Food Depository while raising awareness of its own suite of free web-based services for foodies. The promotion runs until April 25th. To donate to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, “like” Menuism on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/Restaurant.Reviews.
