Of the many ways that Christine Renken gives back to the community, helping support Veterans is high on her list. As she explains, “If there is ever any way I can help Veterans who have served our country, I give it my best for two major reasons. One, I am married to an active duty Coast Guardsman and very familiar with the challenges that Veterans can face. And, two, many of our clients are Veterans who didn’t have a clue that they were being exposed to asbestos and years later end up with mesothelioma. That’s when they call us for help. All too many times I have listened to their stories, and my heart goes out to them and their families.”

As part of her dedication, Renken is helping with the Operation Warrior’s Foundation Inc. drive to collect blankets and coats for homeless veterans between now and the end of the year. The collection drive coincides with a food drive as well, with the hope to not only keep Veterans warm and protected during the colder winter months but also well fed. All items collected will be given to homeless veterans here in California through the help of volunteers.

The Warrior Foundation, Inc. was created to help ease the financial burdens of veterans who live on the streets and to support service members in need. If you live in Marin County and want to make a donation, please contact Christine or call 415-332-4262. You can also contact SSG info(at)OperationWarriorsFoundation(dot)org; Mark Jones or Charlene Jones who are the lead Bay Area coordinators of the drive if you’d like to know more about how you can help or if you know of a veteran in need.
