The law firm of Messner & Reeves is pleased to announce that Robert B. Hinckley, Jr. has become an equity partner at the firm. Mr. Hinckley now joins founder Bryant S. "Corky" Messner, John Shunk, David Reeves and Bruce Montoya as owners of the firm. In addition, Valerie D. Bromley, Clayton W. Barnett, Michelle L. Harden, Tanya E. Milligan and Travis S. Uhlenhopp have been named partners.

Robert B. Hinckley, Jr. is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group, Mr. Hinckley's practice includes representation of clients in the areas of commercial and civil litigation, including construction disputes, insurance litigation and contractual disputes. Mr. Hinckley has represented a variety of clients in all phases of complex civil litigation in state, federal and administrative courts throughout Colorado, Florida, and other states. A former prosecutor, Mr. Hinckley has first-chair experience in over forty jury trials. In addition, Mr. Hinckley serves as general counsel for several business entities.

Valerie D. Bromley is a member of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group, Ms. Bromley's practice focuses primarily on real estate matters including negotiating and drafting purchase and sale contracts, licenses, easements, leases; due diligence; title examination; construction contracts; financing; land use and zoning matters, and all aspects of development.    Ms. Bromley is also a LEED® accredited professional.

Clayton W. Barnett is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Barnett’s practice primarily consists of litigating construction, property, and commercial disputes. His litigation experience ranges from defending construction professionals in defect and injury cases, prosecuting mechanic’s liens and litigating commercial disputes on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. He has tried numerous jury and bench trials throughout Colorado.
Outside of his litigation practice, Mr. Barnett focuses on corporate matters in the food and beverage industry, primarily related to liquor licensing. He regularly represents restaurants, breweries and bars in public hearings related to the issuance of tavern, hotel & restaurant, beer & wine and brew pub licenses as well as petitions for major modifications to these.

Michelle L. Harden is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group, Ms. Harden represents individuals and businesses, large and small, in litigation and at trial. She represents clients in the courtroom, in administrative forums and through alternative dispute resolution.    Acting in an inside counsel role, she oversees litigation throughout the United States for a large, publicly traded company. Ms. Harden also serves as general counsel for several small businesses in the Denver Metropolitan area. A significant portion of Ms. Harden's practice includes representation of physicians, nurses, other health care professionals and health care entities in litigation, including but not limited to defending malpractice actions, and in business transactions. She maintains an active practice representing health care providers before licensing boards, including the Board of Medical Examiners, the Board of Nursing and other credentialing entities, including administrative law hearings on licensing issues.

Tanya E. Milligan is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment and Litigation Practice Groups. Ms. Milligan represents employers in actions, including sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful discharge, and retaliation. In addition, she has represented employers in binding arbitrations, in state and federal actions, and in mediation and settlement negotiations. Ms. Milligan also has broad experience in employment counseling, including wage and hour classifications, FMLA regulations, harassment and discrimination investigations, termination procedures, required postings, vacation, sick and jury pay, background checks, and wage deductions.

Travis S. Uhlenhopp is a member of the firm’s Corporate and Intellectual Practice Groups, Mr. Uhlenhopp assists clients with navigating a wide variety of legal issues including selection of entity and compliance, negotiation of contracts, leasing, raising capital, as well as the acquisition, disposition and management of assets. As a Registered Patent Attorney and the head of the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group, Mr. Uhlenhopp also advises clients regarding intellectual property protection, procurement, management and licensing strategies. With his unique combination of Corporate and Intellectual Property expertise, Mr. Uhlenhopp is able to effectively serve the role of outside General Counsel to numerous clients, managing their portfolios, vendor relationships, and contributing to the overall strategies behind their businesses.
