“We are pleased to see that the various litigations involving metal-on-metal hip implants are moving forward, as we continue to hear from individuals who suffered serious complications allegedly associated with the ASR device and other metal hips,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices, including hundreds of clients in metal-on-metal hip lawsuits. The Firm is actively filing DePuy ASR lawsuits in the federal litigation, and is representing individuals allegedly injured by an all-metal version of the DePuy Pinnacle hip system, the Biomet M2a Magnum hip, and those involved in the July 2012 Stryker Rejuvenate recall. Bernstein Liebhard LLP also offers free case evaluations to individuals affected by the June 2012 Smith & Nephew metal liner recall, and continues to investigate cases concerning the Wright Profemur and Conserve metal hip implants.

Metal-on-Metal Hip Replacements
The DePuy ASR hip recall was announced in August 2010, after the hips were found to be failing at an unacceptably high rate. Since then, Johnson & Johnson and its DePuy Orthopaedics unit have been named in more than 10,000 metal-on-metal hip lawsuits stemming from the recall, most of which are filed in Ohio federal court. On Friday, March 8th, the jury hearing arguments in the nation’s first trial involving a DePuy ASR hip lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff, awarding him $8.3 million in damages. (Kransky v. DePuy, BC456086, California Superior Court, Los Angeles County (Los Angeles))    Jury selection began last week for a second trial scheduled to begin in Cook County Circuit Court, Illinois. Grand, is serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee for a multidistrict litigation established in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas for metal-on-metal hip lawsuits involving the all-metal DePuy Pinnacle hip implant.
