“For me, Metalogix was the only product that achieved what I needed,” said Bruce Cunningham, network administrator, Sportif USA. "Most of the other solutions were a step in the wrong direction. It was a pretty easy purchase decision once we found it.”

Metalogix Software, the trusted provider of content lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange® and Cloud platforms, today announced that Sportif USA, a leading innovator in the outdoor clothing industry, has deployed Metalogix Archive Manager – Exchange Edition to automate the archiving and protection of its large Outlook mailboxes. Using the Metalogix solution, Sportif has seen a significant reduction in email management costs while benefiting from the seamless protection and recovery of emails for its data-intense Outlook users.

In 1965, Sportif began as a small business in Southern California, headed by John G. Kirsch. In true entrepreneurial style, Kirsch sold tennis shorts from the back of the family's station wagon, gradually building a reputation for quality and comfort. As this reputation grew, so did the market for high-quality outdoor clothing. Today, Sportif is a leading innovator in the outdoor clothing industry. One of the first companies to utilize Gore-Tex and sun-protective fabrics, Sportif is a premier manufacturer and private label provider for top clothing companies including Eddie Bauer and L.L. Bean.

As a company heavily invested in its technology infrastructure, Sportif relies on automation and its top business application is email. It is used widely throughout the organization, most heavily by the company’s production department. New clothing designs and plans, including design sketches, are emailed back and forth to customers. It is typical for each email size to be greater than 100 MBs, which meant rapidly expanding their Outlook email mailboxes sizes that became an unmanageable problem. Because their Exchange server wasn’t built to manage 11GB mailboxes, finding an archiving solution became its top operational priority to maintain business continuity.

“For me, Metalogix was the only product that achieved what I needed,” said Bruce Cunningham, network administrator, Sportif USA. “Most of the other solutions were a step in the wrong direction. I have more large mailboxes that I’ve ever seen in one place. Metalogix has been a godsend by putting in a message stub, so that it looks like the email is still there to the user, linking them to the message on the archive. It was a pretty easy purchase decision once we found it.”

Metalogix Archive Manager – Exchange Edition has allowed Sportif to consolidate separate infrastructure and operations for different user data platforms to eliminate redundant backup recovery processes, servers and streamline security and control of user data. Sportif now has an automated solution for email archiving – no matter how large their users email boxes get. Even more useful for the company, users have immediate search and recovery access to any of the emails they want to retrieve without any adding burden on the IT department staff – improving productivity and data protection across the board.

Sportif evaluated a number of solutions, but only Metalogix Archive Manager – Exchange Edition met its criteria. The company wanted to avoid creating two copies of the email mailbox that most other solutions require because they copy to another server and then require a web portal to access recoveries, wasting space and time. Additionally, the other solutions offered excessive and complex compliance features that were beyond what Sportif required. Sportif selected to deploy Metalogix Archive Manager – Exchange Edition, and the results have provided exactly what the company was looking for.

“Organizations like Sportif need an email archiving solution they can rely on that is economical and efficient,” said Steven Murphy, CEO, Metalogix. “Metalogix Archive Manager – Exchange Edition is the perfect solutions to meet their operational imperatives for business-critical content. With its powerful and comprehensive features for storage optimization, eDiscovery, retention and automated archiving, it’s the one solution that fits every email management need and why it is trusted on a daily basis by thousands of customers across the world.”
