Female-Focused Social Media Event Coming to Boulder, Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) December 4, 2008 --
On January 9, 2009 “Chicks
Who Click,” the first event of its kind directed specifically at
women entrepreneurs, will showcase female brand ambassadors and new
media experts who use social media to create and promote lasting
personal brands, make business connections and build long-term
relationships with customers.
Although studies show that men are usually first in line when it
comes to embracing sexy new technology and high-tech gadgets, it’s women
who dominate cyberspace. How they use it – specifically, how they
use social media to market and brand themselves and their businesses –
is the subject of a hip, trendy and helpful workshop that will kick off
the New Year in Boulder.
Tweet Your Way to Success
Out of the roughly 120 million users on FaceBook and 110 million
users on MySpace, 63% are women and only 36% are men, according to
industry research reports. And, more and more women are using Twitter.
According to TechCrunch there are approximately 200,000 active Twitter
users per week who create three million Twitter messages per day.
Dynamic female entrepreneurs are using popular Internet Web sites
like FaceBook and Twitter to create demand and build market value for
their own enterprises. The market is big and growing. According to the Center
for Women’s Business Research, 10.1 million firms are owned by women
(50% or more), employing more than 13 million people, and generating
$1.9 trillion in sales.
“One purpose of this conference is to empower women, whether they
already have a business or the desire to start one, to create and
promote their brand using the power of social media,” said Denise Smith,
event marketing executive who is director of the fast growing corporate
events practice at Metzger
Associates. “We have put together a fun weekend of networking and
learning that is anchored by a program of entertaining and
skills-focused hands-on workshops that will empower women to create and
use a social toolbox, show them how to make online relationships count
and how to refine their personal brand.”
“Chicks Who Click,” a collaboration between Metzger Associates and
social media maven Gwen
Bell, has secured an amazing lineup of eight speakers including
20-year marketing veteran and One2One Network founder Barbara Jones,
computer technologist and social media consultant Lucretia Pruitt, local
news Web site producer Wayne Sutton of MyNC.com, and Trina Hoefling,
popular author of several business books including Working Virtually.
Event sponsors include Wal-Mart,
Kirtsy,
Lijit
and Metzger Associates.
The price tag for the entire conference weekend (including
optional ski day on Friday) is $225, or $175 for the Saturday hands-on
business sessions and networking opportunities. Registration information
may be found at www.ChicksWhoClick.com
or by calling (303) 786-7000 ext. 3526. Space is limited - register here
