The Offshore Group has made a conversation on the subject of nearshore Mexico manufacturing with Chas Spence, director for Latin American Manufacturing Practice at AlixPartners, available to visitors to its Mexico manufacturing website.
AlixPartners, a global firm of senior business and consulting professionals, conducted a survey of 80 C-level and other senior manufacturing executives across more than 15 industries earlier this year. Results showed that 63 percent of those questioned chose Mexico manufacturing as the most attractive option for establishing manufacturing activities in proximity to the United States, while only 19 percent cited the U.S. itself as the best location from which to service the country’s domestic market.
According to Spence, “This survey showed us that The United States ranked right behind Mexico as the primary spot for nearshoring operations. What we discovered is that, if a company had an operation in China, Vietnam, India or Europe, they noted Mexico as their first choice, and then listed the U.S. as their second option.”
The full conversation between The Offshore Group and Chas Spence can be heard in this Mexico manufacturing podcast.
