M&I Bank will host an opening celebration for its new WallStreet Tower branch from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 10, at 1101 Walnut Street. The event is open to the public and guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit Harvesters Community Food Network. The new branch extends M&I Bank's ability to serve commercial and retail customers located between its Briarcliff Village and Country Club Plaza locations. With the WallStreet Tower opening, M&I Bank has 15 offices in Kansas City and nearby communities.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 8, officially opened the WallStreet Tower branch and kicked off M&I Bank's efforts to reduce hunger in Kansas City with a food drive at all M&I Bank branch locations throughout Kansas City. The food drive will continue until August 31.

Harvesters Community Food Network served nearly 250,000 Kansas Citians in 2007. Today, the organization's pantry is growing increasingly bare as a result of economy. "Harvesters is the most important source of food inventory for many agencies in Kansas City," said Pam Berneking, M&I Bank's Central States Region president. "With rising food prices, an increasing number of people are turning to Harvesters for emergency food assistance and M&I Bank wants to make sure Harvesters has the resources they need."
