Detroit Re-Nailed Series: Market Development Conference will take place on September 20-21 at the NextEnergy Center. The Detroit Deconstruction Summit, hosted by DDSC (Detroit Area Deconstruction Steering Committee) and BMRA, is a gathering of thought leaders in the fields of deconstruction, reuse and recycling of C&D (construction and demolition) materials and recovery.

The conference’s goal is to further the evolution of deconstruction, recovery and C&D recycling by sharing current best practices for market growth and development while exploring future innovations in supply and demand.

As noted by NextEnergy, Detroit is not only the city with the most need for deconstruction and recycling based on its current physical condition of building stock, but also the leading manufacturing hub in the United States. Detroit Re-Nailed will be a unique opportunity to connect innovation in processing (supply) to manufacturing (demand) to best understand how both sides can benefit from environmentally conscious future.

On Friday, September 21, 2012, Michael Hobbs will speak on Best Practices for Deconstruction Appraisals. The topics to be covered will range from methods for appraising used building materials to IRS form 8283 (Noncash Charitable Contributions) to valuing donated materials. The session will be followed by a Best Practices breakout session focused on how material recovery and reuse firms should handle the appraisal process and avoid pitfalls and comply with regulations.
