Cina Wong, a document examiner and forensic handwriting expert is now seeing an increase in cases dealing with elderly financial abuse, with Mickey Rooney allegedly becoming the latest victim. According to court records, ninety-year-old actor Mickey Rooney has been granted a temporary restraining order from his stepson Chris Aber after filing a case charging Aber with verbal, emotional, and financial abuse and from withholding food and medicine from Rooney. The court filing (Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles California 90012, case #-BS129687) states that Rooney "is effectively a prisoner in his own home." Among other things, Aber is allegedly accused of forcing Rooney to sign financial documents without reading them and of taking control of the actor's finances. According to court documents, Rooney has also been granted a temporary conservatorship to protect his financial interests.
