MIS, Inc., makers of PAXcam digital microscope cameras for the laboratory and PAX-it Image Analysis Software, announces the latest addition to its suite of imaging products for microscopy systems and macrostand applications. PAXcam CONNECT is a software module used in conjunction with the PAXcam line of digital microscope cameras for high resolution streaming of microscopic and macroscopic views in real time, allowing synchronized sharing of live views with remote participants.

“When time is of the essence, the ability to connect and share views with a client, supplier or colleague is critical,” shares Tom Vuke, VP of Imaging at MIS, Inc. “PAXcam CONNECT allows for live, simultaneous viewing of the same subject regardless of location, on your local area network or over the Internet. Whether it’s a microscopic sample or a larger object on a macrostand in the laboratory, this technology allows collaborators down the hall or around the world to work together as if they were in the same room.”

The development of PAXcam CONNECT represents a breakthrough in telemicroscopy applications, allowing for simple setup, greater flexibility in the types of samples supported, and a price point that’s affordable for a wide variety of businesses, institutions and laboratories using digital microscope technology, all without sacrificing image resolution or user experience. The CONNECT upgrade works with existing PAXcam hardware and retains all existing system settings, allowing the seamless addition of live stream capability to local PAXcam live preview, high-resolution image capture and PAX-it image database, measurement, image analysis and reporting. Remote locations can access the live stream through free “Player” software available via web download.

From remote consults for medical diagnoses to analyzing equipment failures that are holding up production, the technology is designed to save users both time and money. PAXcam CONNECT can be used as telepathology software, telemicroscopy software, and in materials science, clean room and quality control applications.
