Cooper City, Florida (PRWEB) September 2, 2009 -- Cloud messaging provider Linxter, Inc. today announces its Innovation Challenge, in partnership with Microsoft BizSpark. .NET Developers are encouraged to apply for a chance to win $1,000 cash, a 1 year Advanced Linxter account ($5,400 value), an Xbox360, featured visibility on Microsoft's Startup Zone site, and one-on-one consultation from Microsoft marketing and technology specialists.

What it takes: Simply develop an app and Linxter enable it. Sound like too much trouble for just a $1,000 prize? That's because you haven't tried Linxter yet! It only takes minutes to implement, and a few method calls before your program is sending messages. In addition, you can use open source Linxter enabled apps as a springboard if you don't want to create your own program from scratch.

What we're looking for: Innovative open source and commercial .NET applications that leverage Linxter's cloud messaging platform. Entries submitted by October 12, 2009 will be judged by a panel of experts on the following criteria: originality and creativity, functionality and user experience, marketability or problem addressed, and utilization of Linxter.

What's Linxter: Linxter is an easy-to-use, firewall friendly cloud middleware platform providing secure, reliable, well-governed, asynchronous data exchange. What does that mean? It bundles and automates the complex tasks required to connect distributed apps and integrate distributed systems.

What's the point: We've worked hard to design Linxter with the true spirit of the cloud in mind: ease of use. There is zero infrastructure or specialized coding required. In other words, developers can focus on the core value of integrated applications and services instead of the infrastructure and code needed to connect them. Naturally, we're curious to see the innovative apps and services developers can produce when they don't have to focus on back-end complexities like communication plumbing.

What are the prizes: Of the entries submitted by October 12, 2009, three finalists will be chosen to move onto the final judging round. The first prize winner will receive $1,000 cash and a 1 year Advanced Linxter account ($5,400 value), and the two runners-up will each receive $250 cash and a 1 year Standard Linxter account ($600 value). In addition, through our partnership with Microsoft BizSpark, each of the three finalists will receive an Xbox360, featured visibility on MicrosoftStartupZone.com, and one-on-one consultation from Microsoft marketing and technology specialists. If eligible*, finalists will also be sponsored into the Microsoft BizSpark program (details below).

What if I don't win: All contest participants will receive a 6 month Basic Linxter account ($60 value), and be sponsored by Microsoft into the Microsoft BizSpark* program. BizSpark provides startups visibility with potential investors, clients, and partners, as well as seeds their development efforts with a free MSDN Premium subscription ($10,939 value) and rights to certain production licenses. BizSpark members also get access to unlimited email support, online training, and invitations to local technical events.

*BizSpark eligibility requirements apply: be actively developing software, privately held, less than three years old, and making less than $1M annually (see http://www.microsoft.com/bizspark for more details on BizSpark eligibility).
