Mike Shinoda: The Glorious (WeMix)
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 7, 2008
WeMix.com, the fastest growing artist-centered, user-generated music creation and record label community for independent artists has partnered with Grammy award winning musician/producer/artist Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Fort Minor to launch the "Mike Shinoda: The Glorious (WeMix)" songwriting contest. The contest will give one winning artist the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have Mike Shinoda go into the studio with him/her to help professionally record their song.
Wemix.com's "Mike Shinoda: The Glorious (WeMix)" contest coincides with the premiere of Shinoda's Glorious Excess (Born) and Glorious Excess (Dies) exhibit, a brand-new series of paintings and digital work at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, CA. The exhibition, which is presented in two parts, features large-scale pieces that blend his experiences in the superstar spotlight with pop commentary and classical vanitas influences.
"Mike Shinoda helped pioneer the idea of mixing rock, hip-hop, and art," said WeMix.com co-founder Matt Apfel. "We're fans of Mike's music, fans of his art, and we're incredibly excited to bring this new level of collaboration to the WeMix community."
A call to action will begin July 30th on the WeMix site inviting artists to enter the contest by going to http://www.wemix.com and submitting one original song inspired by artwork from Shinoda's Glorious Excess (Born) and Glorious Excess (Dies) exhibit. Select images from Shinoda's exhibit will be on display for contestant viewing at WeMix.com. The WeMix.com community will select a winner from a group of finalists hand-picked by Mike Shinoda.
"Art, design, and music go hand-in-hand," says Shinoda. "It's my pleasure to help give the winning artist a platform and the professional guidance to bring their music to life in-studio, and I'm excited to see how the dynamic between the songs and my artwork plays out."
"WeMix is a place where musicians of every level and every genre can come together to make music," said WeMix.com co-founder Chris "Ludacris" Bridges. "Working with rock-focused artists like Mike Shinoda makes that promise a reality - and Mike is the first of many superstars coming in to work with the WeMix artist community."
Shinoda's Glorious Excess (Born) and Glorious Excess (Dies), exhibit will be on display at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, CA until August 3, 2008 and will return to the museum on January 24, 2009.
