Wireless infrastructure development and management firm, Milestone Communications, announced it has signed marketing agreements with Maryland’s Queen Anne’s and Dorchester County Schools to market sites for potential wireless tower locations. The agreements were facilitated through Milestone’s partnership with the Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE).

Through these agreements, Milestone adds 29 new sites to its wireless infrastructure portfolio. The company currently markets more than 300 sites on school properties in Maryland. Queen Anne’s and Dorchester County Schools join other Maryland County school systems with Milestone marketing agreements, including Anne Arundel, Caroline, Frederick, Prince George’s, Somerset, and Talbot.

Frances Hughes Glendening, Executive Director of MABE, stated, "We appreciate the benefits our partnership with Milestone Communications provides to our member boards, enabling Maryland school systems to have wireless service when and where it is needed, and to realize a new source of revenue.”

Mobile carriers seek to develop their networks to meet consumer demand for access and capacity in the neighborhoods where they work and live. Central locations such as schools are ideal for addressing gaps in network coverage. Milestone’s tower site marketing agreements provide schools with a way to make their property available for a wireless tower program that could result in thousands of dollars of recurring revenue through property leases.

“MABE’s partnership with us is a validation of our approach to working with government and school landowners to develop community-friendly solutions,” said Milestone CEO Len Forkas. “We are pleased to be working with the Queen Anne’s and Dorchester County Schools for new wireless network capacity and access opportunities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.”

Milestone currently manages more than 400 sites in Maryland, the largest bank of government and school tower sites in the state.
