2014 Grand Prize: ‘Dress-Up-Dinner-Tonight,' Lennis Mathews, Wauwatosa, WI

It is great to see customers interact with the brand and the packaging to create works of art.

Milford Valley has selected the winning entries in the 2014 “Art of Chicken” Photo Contest. The contest challenged entrants from across the country to use chicken product packaging in unique creations that captured the Milford Valley brand. Photographs of the creations were then submitted to the company’s Facebook page for judging.

Taking the Grand Prize of $5,000 Lennis Mathews, of Wauwatosa, WI, for her ‘Dress-Up-Dinner-Tonight’ design, featuring a female shopper wearing a dress made from Milford Valley “film” packaging and a full-size shopping cart filled with Milford Valley 10 oz. chicken entrée packages. A creation dubbed, ‘Roadside Farm Stand,’ by Patrice Hurd, of Bemidji, MN, earned her $1,000 for second place. The entry is a diorama of a farm stand selling Milford Valley chicken entrées. The third place award of $500 went to Caroline Hinkley, Galisteo, NM, for her ‘Warholian Chicken,’ an homage to artist Andy Warhol using Milford Valley 10 oz. chicken packaging. Garnering the most public votes, earned Bailey Taylor the $250 People's Choice prize for her entry, 'Cheer for the Home Team.'

All entries were judged on representation of the Milford Valley brand and/or Milford Valley products, as well as creativity and originality.

“This was Milford Valley’s second year for the contest, and we had a wide array of entries,” said Carmen Darland, Milford Valley’s director of marketing. “It is great to see customers interact with the brand and the packaging to create works of art.”
