The Career Center of Grantham University, a 60-year-old institution delivering accredited online degrees to working adult students around the world, will host a Webinar on civilian job search tools and techniques geared specifically toward service members who are approaching transition to the civilian workforce at 6 p.m. Central Time on Monday, June 6, 2011.
Today it is more important than ever for job applicants to be experts at marketing themselves and knowing how and when to use job search tools. Part two of the Military-To-Civilian Transition Webinar will cover the job search tools and techniques that transitioning military members will need to create and be knowledgeable about in order to conduct a successful civilian job search.
"Veterans have many critical job skills employers need," said Shanna Fowler, career services coordinator at Grantham University. "But, they need to master the art of incorporating their skills into a resume and learn how to talk about those skills in interviews."
This free event will cover:
- Civilian and federal resumes and cover letters
- Interviewing techniques
- Follow-up letters
- Job search techniques and tools
The Webinar Series uses the Grantham University Career Center Military-Civilian Transition Manual, which walks service members through the various career steps, in the appropriate order. These steps start 36 months prior to the service member's separation date through their terminal leave.
