This patent uses an agentless, out-of-band security model for network access control and complements the Company's 2006 patent award for pre-admission NAC. The patent's claims detail out-of-band, peer-based apparatuses and in-memory techniques to track and manipulate address resolution traffic for controlling access and enforcing authentication for unknown devices prior to allowing access to protected devices on a local network segment. It also details methods for quarantining endpoints that fail the authentication checks.
