Mirena IUD lawsuits (http://www.filemirenalawsuit.com/) continue to mount in courts around the country, as Bernstein Liebhard LLP notes the filing of a new claim on behalf of an Indiana woman who allegedly suffered infertility and other alleged Mirena complications following spontaneous migration of the IUD. The Mirena lawsuit, which was filed earlier this month in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana, further alleges that the woman’s unborn child suffered severe birth defects, due to unregulated amounts of hormones that were released when the IUD fragmented within her body. According to her complaint, the Plaintiff continues to suffer from dysfunctional uterine bleeding, intermenstrual bleeding, irregular menstruation, abdominal pain, and infertility due to the complications she allegedly sustained from Mirena. (Case No. 1:13-cv-01565-JMS-DK)
“This case is of great interest to our Firm, as we are representing a number of women who allegedly suffered serious Mirena complications when the IUD migrated from its proper position in the uterus,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free Mirena IUD lawsuit evaluations to women who were seriously injured by this device.
Mirena IUD Lawsuits
The Mirena IUD has been on the market since 2000, and is approved for contraception and as a treatment for heavy menstrual bleeding in women who wish to use an IUD as their primary form of birth control. Court documents indicate that hundreds of Mirena lawsuits have been filed in courts around the country on behalf of women who allegedly suffered serious injuries following spontaneous migration of the IUD. The Mirena litigation includes at least 219 claims that have been filed in a multicounty litigation underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court. (In Re: Mirena Litigation; Case No. 297). An additional 211 Mirena IUD lawsuits are also pending in a federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, where Bernstein Liebhard is actively filing claims. (In re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434.)
According to court records, all of the Mirena lawsuits pending in these proceedings involve similar allegations regarding the IUD’s propensity to migrate from its proper position in the uterus, even after having been properly inserted by a healthcare professional. Plaintiffs are alleged to have suffered a variety of serious Mirena complications, including uterine perforations and embedment, ectopic pregnancy, infections, and scarring, due to this occurrence. Mirena IUD lawsuits also claim that some women were forced to undergo surgical intervention to locate and remove the device and repair damage caused by the IUD after it migrated.
Women who have allegedly been harmed by spontaneous migration of the Mirena IUD may be entitled to compensation for their medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.
