Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 27, 2013
The PPP continues participation in the America's Dentists Care Foundations Mission of Mercy (ADCF MOM) as the volunteers of the event benefit almost as much as the patients treated. The PPP employees look forward to the opportunity to provide volunteer service to the Wisconsin Mission of Mercy Foundation.
“Volunteering for the AZ MOM event was an amazing and gratifying experience. I conducted the exit interviews, which allowed me the opportunity to speak with the patients after they received their dental care. They expressed their gratitude, shared their stories and complimented the dentist/staff on their professionalism. It was wonderful to hear how this event has made an impact on them and witness our insured’s, carrier and PPP staffing coming together for a wonderful event,” expresses Marie Torres, Underwriter, for PPP.
This year marks the fifth Mission of Mercy for the WDA and WDA Foundation. The MOM event is expected to reach 10,000 patient visits and top $5.5 million in donated care at this year’s event. Badger High School, 220 E. South Street, Lake Geneva, WI, will be transformed into large-scale dental clinic treating adults and children with limited financial resources or otherwise unable to visit a dental office.
Treatment: Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29 with doors opening at 5:30 a.m. Patients are seen on first-come, first-served basis with approximately 1,000 individuals treated each day. Patient quota is typically reached by 8 a.m., so hopeful patients are encouraged to come early.

Understanding that many people and families today have difficulty affording dental services, Mission of Mercy events provide “no questions asked” care to those in need. According to the American Dental Association, dental disease is almost entirely preventable and oral health is just as important as the health of the rest of your body. Untreated dental disease can lead to serious health problems such as infection, damage to bone or nerve, and tooth loss. Infection from tooth disease can even spread to other parts of the body and in rare cases, can lead to death.
Dental Mission of Mercy events have donated dental services to indigent patients for over a decade. The first dental MOM was held in Virginia, July 2000. MOM events are now held in 17 states and are usually sponsored by state or local dental societies. Over the course of its history, 100,000+ patients have been treated, and over $50 million of donated dental services have been provided by caring dental professionals.
