my creative skills in the culinary arts to support such important work in the community. I already know what I will be creating for a main menu item – I can’t wait to present it to all of you!

Mixed Roots Foundation will celebrate its 2nd Year Anniversary during the month of May which is also recognized as National Foster Care Month and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. In recognition of its multicultural roots as well as some well-noted accomplishments, Mixed Roots will host an Anniversary Celebration Gathering at a private mansion in Sausalito, CA on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 6:00 pm – 10 pm with complimentary valet shuttle.

The Anniversary Celebration Gathering will begin with a VIP Cocktail Reception at 6:00 p.m. where guests will participate in a private tour of the mansion and end up on the widow’s walk with views of the Bay and also get a sneak preview of the signature Mixed Roots Drinks that will be presented later in the evening. Opening and Welcome remarks will be made by guru of mentoring and God Father of Black Psychology, Dr. Joseph L. White, Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Psychology of University of California–Irvine and Lee Mun Wah, Filmmaker/Producer of StirFry Seminars. Mr. Lee is also an adoptive parent and is well known for his work with his film The Color of Fear that addresses racism in America and is about to release the feature film If These Halls Could Talk, which shares the personal lives of college students and their perspectives on diversity issues in higher education. All guests will receive a gift bag presented by Mixed Chicks, a multicultural beauty and hair product company specifically focused on the mixed race experience headquartered in Los Angeles, CA.

“As I look back on the last couple of years, it has been quite the journey to think where we have come from with the Mixed Roots Foundation…we have literally built this organization from the dirt and it is very exciting to see this organization finally start to grow”, stated Holly Choon Hyang Bachman, Fellow Adoptee and Founder, Mixed Roots Foundation. “This 2nd Year Anniversary Celebration Gathering will mark another great milestone…I look forward and I am grateful to continue to work with everyone who has selflessly given of their time, commitment and resources both financially and socially to keep Mixed Roots going and growing”.

Along with keynote remarks, a formal announcement of the newly established Honorary Board will also take place. The Honorary Board consists of Dr. Emmett D. Carson, CEO, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Michael Reagan, President, The Reagan Legacy Foundation and Amy Anderson, Actress/Comedian based in Los Angeles, CA.

Finally, the event will round out with the first ever World Market Taste Tour where all guests will have the opportunity to taste various signature Mixed Roots drink, food, and dessert items.  All signature items will be available for purchase after the event and a portion of proceeds from the sale of those signature items will be donated back to the Mixed Roots Foundation to further support more post adoption resources for adoptees and their families.
