CDNetworks (KOSDAQ: 073710), the world's third largest, and Asia's #1, full-service content delivery network (CDN), today announced a new wave of Massively Multiple Online (MMO) game publishers, portals, and gaming technology companies that are relying on CDNetworks for Content Acceleration Network (CAN) services and hosting infrastructure in America and Europe. K2 Network has renewed its US partnership with CDNetworks for both CAN services and CDNetworks Global Data Center Services. Burda:ic, a European gaming company for MMO and online casual games and TransGaming Technologies, a dominant software portability technology, have recently signed with CDNetworks for CAN services. Gamepot USA has also recently signed on with CDNetworks US. These additions raise the number to more than 20 American and European gaming companies served by CDNetworks. CDNetworks is already the leading provider of CDN services in the MMO gaming sector in Asia.

An upturn in MMO Games, which range from free-to-play casual to massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG), is anticipated in the US. According to a February 2, 2009 article in Reuters, entitled "Recession to Help Online Games Firms Push West," this upturn is expected due to: the introduction of new games that are more culturally in-tune with local audiences; increased "playtime" available due to the economic downturn; and increased penetration of broadband access in homes. The Reuters' article cited the Gartner Report "Dataquest Insight: Consumer Broadband, Global Penetration Rates and Growth Prospects" published July 16, 2008, saying: "Gartner expects U.S. broadband penetration to swell to 77 percent of households by 2012 from 54 percent in 2007. The numbers could also jump to around 70 percent from about 50 percent in France, Britain and Spain."

CDNetworks global CAN services provide the highest quality and speed of game client and patch file downloading, dramatically improving the online gamers' experience. Leveraging its heritage as a pioneer in providing CDN services for the online gaming sector, CDNetworks has amassed a broad base of gaming sector customers in America and Europe. Some recent additions are: Atlus, Burda:ic, Gamepot USA, and TransGaming, Inc. (TSX-V: TNG). These companies join incumbent gaming firms in America and Europe including: Codemasters, K2 Network, Nexon, Ntreev, Sleepy Giant, TC Digital Games. Uforia, YNK, and others.

CDNetworks also provided the content delivery technology and global infrastructure for the online audience viewing of the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2008 Grand Final, the world's largest e-sports event. The live game broadcasts were enabled by CDNetworks' web acceleration and high-definition media-streaming services.

In addition to CAN services, CDNetworks provides several gaming companies with its Global Data Center Services for global IT outsourcing. These services provide in-country data center services in 65 major cities in North America, China, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Services include complete, state-of-the-art IT infrastructure with local technical manpower and support services around-the-clock. Global Data Center Services enable rapid cross-boarder expansion, at a greatly reduced cost compared to investing in and building out local infrastructure in-house.

New and continuing CDNetworks customers using CDNetworks services in America and Europe include: K2 Network; European gaming company Burda:ic; Japan-based Gamepot; and Canada-based TransGaming, Inc.

  •     K2 Network / GamersFirst.com has recommitted to its long-term partnership with CDNetworks. "CDNetworks has been a trusted partner of GamersFirst.com for several years, and is a key component in our distribution and hosting strategy for our Free2Play games both in North America and globally. CDN has offered technical and business solutions that have been well adapted to our changing business needs - and have been an extremely responsive vendor in this rapidly evolving market," said Bjorn Book-Larsson, COO and CTO of K2 Network and GamersFirst.com. We are committed to our success as well as our partners in the global market," said Thomas Lee, Senior Director of Gamepot USA. "CDNetworks has been a tremendous help to us by providing the necessary hosting infrastructure and CDN services to ensure our new universe of customers enjoy a great gaming experience with us right from the very start.
