Today, MobiDigger, Inc. proudly announces the launch of its new "short code" texting service for individual mobile phone users. Very similar to how domain name services connect alphanumeric names to IP addresses, the MobiDigger system matches users' chosen nickname to their mobile phone number.

With an estimated 600 billion SMS messages sent in 2008 (and volumes expected to reach the trillions by 2011) it is no surprise that text usage is on the rise. European markets experienced a marked increase in mobile usage with the introduction of short codes (5-6 digit numbers used in place of mobile numbers) and MobiDigger, Inc. is putting this technology in consumer's hands.

"MobiDigger is naming mobile phone numbers via a mobile messaging system, bringing a personal nickname to your existing wireless number. Our service provides immediate, personal and safe relationships for mobile people," says Hubert A-M Moik, Founder and CEO of MobiDigger, Inc.

Wireless subscribers are already familiar with the short code concept since the codes are frequently displayed in marketing campaigns. Common short code uses include polls, voting, contests, promotional coupons, and now, inter-personal messaging with the help of MobiDigger.

The system is safe and easy-to-use, it works like this: begin a new text message with "dig" plus the recipients' registered DiggerName (e.g. "dig Hubert") and continue typing your message. Once the message is complete, send it to short code 32075. The sender's number is then masked with their DiggerName, and the recipient receives a normal-looking SMS message. DiggerNames can be created at MobiDigger.com.

It is not necessary to be a subscriber in order to send or receive texts through the MobiDigger system. Users are allowed to send an unlimited number of anonymous messages and receive up to three guest messages, free of charge. This is a popular option because of the anonymous guest ID that MobiDigger generates to mask the sender's number. Whether the sender uses the service as a guest or as a subscriber, MobiDigger is a completely secure and private way to send messages.
