The MobilityWorks of Chicago showroom and service center located in Villa Park, IL will be hosting its Mobility Expo and Vendor Fair this Thursday October 6th from 11 AM to 7 PM. The event is free and open to anyone wanting to learn more about mobility products or services for the physical challenged.
The event will also feature a full schedule of Northern Illinois advocacy group speakers to discuss a variety of issues that affect the disabled community. Among the topics to be examined include: help for caregivers; social networking; developing an active lifestyle; financial planning for special needs; living with a traumatic brain injury; adaptive driving; life with a service dog; veterans mobility assistance; and wheelchair accessible travel tips. Eleven speakers in all will be on hand starting at 11:15 AM.
Among some of the agencies in the area that will be participating include: Cure MS Foundation; Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago; Jewish Child and Family Services; Hines VA Hospital; Paralyzed Veterans of America; The Laurus Foundation; Spinal Cord Injury of Illinois; Easter Seals; and the PMD Foundation. Leading industry providers of wheelchairs and scooters, wheelchair vans, driving aids and home improvement products will also be there to demonstrate ways for people to improve their transportation capabilities and home accessibility.
The company will also be hosting a second Mobility Expo the following week in Pennsylvania at the MobilityWorks of Pittsburgh location in Wall, PA. Now in its 6th year, prominent advocacy groups from Western Pennsylvania and leading mobility equipment providers will be on hand from 11 AM to 7 PM Thursday, October 13th. Based on past year's turnouts, more than 350 people are expected to attend. In addition to a large variety of disability organizations, veterans groups and vendors, the Pittsburgh Mobility Expo will also feature live music. The theme of this year’s Pittsburgh event is “Doo Wop Music of the 50s”, with music being performed by local musicians Chuck Blasko and the Vogues.
