MoboMath offers an attractive alternative to keyboards and palettes for creating equations in a user's own handwriting.

Enventra, Inc. today announced support for the MathType equation editor and for Microsoft Word 2010 in the latest version of MoboMath, the handwritten equation editor for calculations and technical documents.

The new MoboMath 1.3 release works in combination with both products to create publication-quality equations. Using a pen tablet or tablet PC, users write math expressions by hand in MoboMath, translate them to formatted equations with a single click, and then drag or paste them into MathType or Microsoft Word. From MathType, equations can be used in over 350 applications and web sites.

"We are pleased to extend MoboMath's handwriting recognition support to the MathType user community, as well as to users of Microsoft Word 2010," said Terry Rochford, President of Enventra. "MoboMath offers an attractive alternative to keyboards and palettes for creating equations in a user's own handwriting, and we are excited to bring this capability to two of the most popular applications for technical authoring."

"The combination of MathType and MoboMath brings handwritten math input to the over 350 applications and websites supported by MathType", said Paul R. Topping, President of Design Science. "We're very excited to see what our customers will do with these new capabilities. We expect that they will invent whole new ways of working with and teaching mathematics."

MathType from Design Science (http://www.dessci.com) is best known as the professional version of the Equation Editor in Microsoft Office, used by educators, scientists and engineers to create papers and presentations with textbook-quality equations. According to scientific and technical publishers, over 85% of submitted manuscripts containing mathematical notation are Microsoft Word documents containing either MathType or Equation Editor equations.

MoboMath previously supported Microsoft Word 2007 and 2003 and works with the native equation editor in each product. MoboMath also supports Mathematica, Maple, and MathMagic, among other applications.

MoboMath 1.3 is available for immediate trial download and purchase through the Enventra web site at http://www.enventra.com. All licensed MoboMath users are eligible for a free upgrade to the new version.
