BioMed Realty is very excited with how One Research Way has been redeveloped as a 21st Century life science building and campus
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 02, 2012
AXIS Architecture + Design, a modern architecture firm in San Francisco, was recently awarded the 2011 Merit Construction Award of Excellence by the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter for the design of the BioMed Realty Trust renovation project. AXIS was the design San Francisco architect on the project, working in conjunction with BAM Studio as the architect of record.
“BioMed Realty is very excited with how One Research Way has been redeveloped as a 21st Century life science building and campus,” said Ashley Myslinkski of Axis Architecture + Design. “With its strong design and infrastructure, One Research Way is well positioned to provide custom laboratory and office space for today’s leading life science companies.”
The exterior renovation consisted of a new entry canopy with glass portal to give the building a strong sense of entry. Metal accents and bay windows were added to give the building scale and a fresh appearance. Acrylic accent “flags” were added as a signature icon to attract vehicular traffic. The landscape was reworked to complement the new architectural building style. The $2M project was completed on budget and on schedule in June 2011.
The project was the second collaboration that AXIS completed with BAM Studio on behalf of BioMed Realty Trust, following a successful addition to the Regeneron Campus in Tarrytown, New York.
