We want to make and sell furniture that can last for generations

Since toying with the idea of developing and producing a line of modern kids furniture that was only available at Modern Tots online retail store in 2012, it has become a full-blown strategy. The retailer says that they are seeing more and more customer who are coming to their site to browse and buy their exclusive items. The additional traffic has also resulted in more sales of the items that are standard in the industry like P’kolino and Sprout as well. According to the store they think that it is due to the overall added exposure that they are now seeing. It is also adding to the level of trust that their visitors are having because the site has a more unique and mature aspect to it that other online stores that are carrying the standard lines do not have. As a result of the positive reception to the new items, the company has expanded its line of exclusives and now is up to three Modern Tots only train tables, one play table set, and two kids beds. was founded in 2009 as an online store that is focused on a curated collection of modern and design oriented kids furniture and toys. They have developed a reputation for high quality and innovative products over the last four years. says that the they originally started thinking of moving into exclusive products because they had been looking for a play table that met their standards when they discovered that most train tables on the market were made with inferior materials and none seemed to be made with non-toxic materials. They say that their table is made so that the table is much more durable by using thicker legs where most tables use a thin and flimsy material. When they finally decided to bring out their own table only sold at Modern Tots, that allowed them to use the kinds of materials and finishes that they think their customer really want. They are using a water-based and non-toxic finish, which they say provides a much safer product compared to most of the other imported play tables on the market. Their first train table used ¾” material for the legs, as opposed to the standard ½” material that most of the competing tables on the market. With their newest table, they’ve beefed up the material even more and are using the thicker stock for the entire table. The company says that this makes for an extremely durable and strong table. They think that this will lead people to find other uses for these kids tables even after their kids are old enough to no longer use them. According to the company, they want to make and sell furniture that can last for generations instead of what they call “throw-away furniture”.
