Ramtech’s ABS process provides senior living center developers with a means to secure high quality facilities faster and at a lower cost than previously possible
Mansfield, TX (PRWEB) July 31, 2012
Ramtech Building Systems, Mansfield, TX has announced that the company is developing new product designs aimed at meeting the rising demand for senior living facilities in the Southwestern U.S. market. The company will focus on the three primary building types that make up a typical senior living center complex including independent living apartments, assisted living facilities, and memory care units. Developed around Ramtech’s cost saving Accelerated Building System (ABS) permanent modular construction process, these standard and custom modular buildings will incorporate floor plan designs with amenities such as central dining and commons facilities, activity centers, and skilled nursing and physical therapy units in addition to the core living areas.
With America’s baby boom generation getting older, the need for senior living centers continues to outpace just about every other commercial construction facility type. In 2010 it was estimated that over 40 million Americans making up approximately 13% of the population were 65 years of age or older. By the year 2050, this number is expected to grow to 88 million, comprising 20% of the country’s residents. Thus, the need is accelerating for additional facilities that can meet the requirements of seniors who are looking to transition from living on their own to secure communities that can meet their needs as they require more specialized outside care.
When Ramtech’s Accelerated Building System is used for single or multi-story senior living facilities, either Type V wood or Type II non-combustible steel and concrete construction can be utilized depending on the application. In each case, the ABS process brings together the best of offsite and onsite construction by combining the speed and efficiency of prefabricated building sections with the quality and appearance of site applied interior and exterior finishes. Ramtech achieves this by employing simultaneous construction tracts. At the same time a site specific, engineered reinforced concrete slab foundation is constructed on the building site, the fabrication of the modular buildings are taking place in Ramtech's manufacturing plant. When complete, the building sections are shipped to the project location, crane-set onto the concrete slab, then quickly weathered-in and finished-out on site. This form of design-build permanent modular construction results in a superior facility with lower design and construction costs, a faster project completion schedule, and superior quality over older site construction methods. According to Gary White, Ramtech’s Vice-President Technical Services, “Ramtech’s ABS process provides senior living center developers with a means to secure high quality facilities faster and at a lower cost than previously possible.”
